• The following issues were discussed with the patient:
  • Unpredictability of skin lesions and possibility of failure to respond to treatment or recurrence following treatment.
  • Salicylic acid daily applications and weekly debridements. Advantages include no injections and limited pain. Disadvantages include long treatment time and poor success rate.
  • Cryotherapy using liquid nitrogen with local anesthesia injections. Advantages include fairly high success rate and short treatment time. Disadvantages include post operative pain, possible limping, need for injection anesthesia.
  • Surgical sharp excision of lesion: Sutures are sometime used for closure, sometimes not depending on the situation. Advantages include short treatment time and high success rate. Disadvantages include post operative pain, possible limping, and extended time to heal post operative wounds and need for injection anesthesia.
