Inspect Your Feet at Home

Inspect Your Feet at Home

As National Foot Health Awareness Month winds down, we at Westchester Podiatric Healing Medicine, P.C., want to encourage our clients to reserve part of their day to paying close attention to their feet. Daily foot checks are a great way to detect signs of any underlying medical issues and prevent common conditions. Most people are unaware of the proper way to inspect their feet and often end up doing more harm than good. Dr. Marzano, our podiatrist at Westchester Podiatric Healing Medicine, P.C., has a few tips to share with everyone to ensure proper inspection of their feet within the confines of their homes.

TAKE YOUR TIME TO INSPECT YOUR FEET

Do not rush your foot inspections because rushed inspections can lead to missed observations. When free, allocate a part of your day for foot inspections, especially if you have diabetes.

OBSERVE CHANGES

Even minor changes can indicate an anomaly. If you notice something off about your feet, ankles, and heels, contact your podiatrist immediately. Slight changes can go unnoticed and become bigger problems.

AVOID BATHROOM SURGERY

Doctors strictly recommend against performing home treatments for major health issues such as removing an ingrown toenail or cutting corns and calluses. Bathroom surgeries can worsen the situation and can lead to infections. Instead, seek the help of a podiatrist to sort out the problem.

At Westchester Podiatric Healing Medicine, P.C., we have the right equipment and medical professionals to help you with your foot woes. Dr. John C. Marzano is a certified podiatrist expert at treating conditions like fungal nails, diabetic foot, nerve pain, bunions, plantar warts, corns and calluses. You can visit our office at 984 N. Broadway, Suite LL03, Yonkers, NY 10701, or call us at (914) 423-0600 and schedule your appointment.
