What Can a Podiatrist Do for Foot Pain in Yonkers, NY?

When someone walks into my office with foot pain, the first thing I try to do is understand exactly what kind of pain they're having. Not all foot pain is the same. For some, it's a sharp stabbing pain under the heel first thing in the morning. For others, it's an aching near the ball of the foot that gets worse by the end of the day. Sometimes it's numbness, burning, swelling, or even a sore that won't heal.

How a Podiatrist Finds the Cause

  • Inflammation
  • Poor circulation or venous insufficiency
  • Nerve compression
  • Joint wear and tear
  • Structural issues like a fallen arch or tight Achilles tendon

A podiatrist is trained to evaluate these symptoms and trace them back to the root cause.

Treatment Approaches

  • Reducing inflammation
  • Protecting the area
  • Correcting the mechanics of the foot so the problem doesn't return

We use treatments like TCS devices (custom orthotics), padding, stretching protocols, and medical-grade braces or shoes. If there's an inflamed tendon or fascia, we might use therapies like MLS laser to help heal the pain. If the pain is coming from a nerve or a joint, we may use oral medication or physical therapy.

Special Considerations for Diabetes

In patients with diabetes, we're especially cautious. Foot pain can sometimes be a sign of an ulcer or a problem with circulation. In those cases, we work quickly to protect the area, promote healing, and prevent complications.

Our Goal

The goal is always the same: get your pain to go away, without relying on temporary fixes. We don't just want to mask the pain. We want to solve the problem.

If your feet are hurting, don't ignore it. Pain is your body's way of asking for help, and podiatrists are the doctors trained to listen.
